Vape Shop Olympia, 2018.

Third monograph book. Vape Shop Olympia completes a trilogy of books (the first being The Vanity of Certain Flowers from 2016, the second All Statues Sing Protest Songs from 2017) that explores the idea of the self in current times.

An evocative and multi-layered story, Vape Shop Olympia reports back on a perceived reality, signalling different facets of modern culture that have been imprinted in the fabric of life with astonishing speed: the replacement of language by sign language, the pervasiveness of a worldview through the prism of hiphop and social media, the practicality and mechanics of texting, sexting and clickbait activism, the holiness of product, phone and picture.

In the midst of all this is the individual, presenting himself, questioning himself, positioning himself, producing and replicating himself.

Ever defiant, with body and mind synced, he turns what appears mundane spiritual, and brings ritual to what seems impulsive.

Focusing heavily on graphics and the interplay of images, the book also features collaborations with young artists Sven Bauweraerts (Belgium) and Giovanni Wetzl (Italy).

The book is published by Claire de Rouen, limited edition of 500 copies.
