Multi-Sensory Environments

Sensory Stories

How do we convey complex scientific principles in an innovative manner?

“We Are Water” staged Science through sensorial experiences. We created and directed a set of 3 sensorial spaces that were conceived to express–and physically engage– the intriguing phenomenon that occurs between water  in our body and extreme landscapes.

We stripped away literal references to natural landscapes, and took an experimental interactive approach as means to stimulate the senses and trigger visitors’ contemplation of their connection to nature.

We created each space with its unique set

of engineered smells and sounds, temperature and humidity, and interactive surfaces. The contrasting sensorial elements of each space provoked physical engagement, helping visitors grasp complex scientific ideas in a more tangible manner.
