Hingston Studio
Tom Hingston is an award-winning Designer and Creative Director, based in London.
His creative agency, Hingston Studio, comprises a specialist mix of Design, Art Direction and CGI animation to create compelling visual narratives across fashion and luxury, music, arts and culture. The studio’s diverse output is manifested through 25 years of collaboration with some of the world’s most influential brands, artists and organizations, to create iconic work that endures the test of time.
Hingston’s work in luxury and fashion has included advertising campaigns for Alexander McQueen, Lancôme, Rolls Royce, Orlebar Brown and Christian Dior, where he served as Art Director for eight years. In 2018 Hingston was appointed as curator for the acclaimed Veuve Clicquot Widow Series, bringing together some of the Studio’s long standing collaborators including Nick Knight, Warren Du Preez & Nick Thornton Jones, Massive Attack, Young Fathers, Neneh Cherry, Chris Levine, Jehnny Beth and James Lavelle in an immersive four floor exhibition of art, film, sound and light, situated on London’s Southbank.
The studio has won numerous awards, particularly for its work in music, including, most recently, two Grammy nominations. Over the last three decades Hingston has collaborated extensively with some of the world’s most well-known artists, including Grace Jones, Nick Cave, The Chemical Brothers, The Rolling Stones, U2, Sade, Lady Gaga and Massive Attack. He has also directed three critically acclaimed promos for the late David Bowie.
In 2019 Hingston was commissioned to design a new visual identity for the Serpentine Galleries, to coincide with the institution’s 50th anniversary. The studio has since created a new brand identity for the Rambert Dance Company, as well as critically acclaimed campaigns for two major exhibitions at the Victoria and Albert Museum – Alice: Curiouser & Curiouser and more recently, Fashioning Masculinities: The Art of Menswear.
Hingston’s archive has been exhibited at a number of major galleries and global institutions including the Design Museum, The Barbican, MoMA, Saatchi Gallery and the Victoria and Albert Museum.
